In 1945 Edith Farnsworth, a musician, translator, doctor, and modern architecture patron commissioned the German-American architect to build a 1,400-square-foot, one-room retreat on a 60-acre plot in Plano, Illinois. The iconic architecture of the Farnsworth house was finally completed in 1951. The house gives you uninterrupted views from the outside and makes the home in harmony with the surrounding nature. Today the home was designated a National Historic Landmark and is currently operated as a house museum open to the public.
